Bikes for Tykes of Farmington, was started in December 2007. My wife Martha and I, with help from our family, close friends, we will give children a Christmas that they would not normally have. Every community has a surplus of old bikes discarded every day. These can very easily be revitalized and put back into our neighborhoods. At Bikes for Tykes of Farmington, we sand away the old paint, then primer and repaint the bikes with the current popular colors. We strip the rust from old wheels, replace the old worn tires, grips, and anything else to make the bike safe and new looking again. The Bikes for Tykes program has become one of the truest forms of "recycling". Understand we will not say "NO" to new bikes either.
 


History Of Bikes for Tykes  
 
In 1987, an organization was founded in Naples, FL. The total objective of this organization is to give the less fortunate children of Naples, children who would have nothing, a Christmas present for this most important of all holidays.
 
Thus, Bikes for Tykes had it's conception. Now, Skip Riffle and his Organization in Naples helps places like ours get started with our own program. There are about 135 cities doing this great charity nation wide.

 Our Mission

 Our goal and mission is to give away many bikes each year as possible, regardless if they are NEW or REBUILT.  At this point in our beginning stages we are looking towards the children receiving their bikes around Christmas.  Although, we will not deny a child a bike around their birthday or any other holiday.  We are looking forward to bringing smiles to all the children that have always wanted a bike of their own, yet never got one.

 

We do not want to just rebuild bikes, eventually we would like to expand our resources and giving hearts, to gather toys and clothes to give in addition to their new bike. Therefore, in time that is a goal we would love to achieve.
